The Library is teaming up with the Ashland Animal Rescue Fund in October to collect much needed pet supplies.

Patrons can reduce or eliminate their fines by donating pet food and supplies.

Donations can be dropped at any branch. To get fines forgiven, you must show your donations to staff before placing the items in the collection barrel. There is a $10 maximum on fine forgiveness.

• BCPL will forgive $1 in fines for the following: 2 cans of wet cat food; dog treats; clean, used towels, rags or sheets; paper towels.
• $3 in fines will be forgiven for each of the following: small bag of dry dog or cat food; kitty litter; box of garbage bags; leashes or collars.
• $5 in fines will be forgiven for each of these (and the donor will be entered into a drawing for prizes): large bag of dog or cat food; pet carrier; Frontline.

And remember, October also means it's time for BCPL's annual program just for pets: Barktober is Saturday,Oct. 8, from noon to 2 p.m. at Kyova.
